The Effect of Adaptivity on the Performance of the OTIS-Hypercube Under Different Traffic Patterns
نویسندگان
چکیده
The OTIS-hypercube is an optoelectronic architecture for interconnecting the processing nodes of a multiprocessor system. In this paper, an empirical performance evaluation of the OTIS-hypercube is conducted for different traffic patterns and routing algorithms. It is shown that, depending on the traffic pattern, minimal path routing may not have the best performance and that adaptivity may be of no improvement. All judgments made are based on observations from the results of extensive simulation experiments of the interconnection network. In addition, logical explanations are suggested for the cause of certain noticeable performance characteristics.

Performance Modeling and Analysis of OTIS Networks
The most determining factors of the performance of a uniprocessor system are its architecture and the technology in which it is implemented. But when a number of such processors are interconnected to form a multiprocessor system, the performance of the whole system is significantly influenced by the nature in which the processors transfer data between each other; e.g. the technology, topology, ...
متن کاملComparative Evaluation of Adaptive and Deterministic Routing in the OTIS-Hypercube
The OTIS-hypercube is an interesting class of the optoelectronic OTIS architecture for interconnection networks. In the OTIS architecture, optical connections are used to connect distant processors while closer processors are connected electronically. In this paper, we propose an adaptive routing algorithm for the wormhole switched OTIS-hypercube. We then present an empirical performance evalua...
متن کاملDeveloping a Model of Heterogeneity in Driver’s Behavior
Intelligent Driver Model (IDM) is a well-known microscopic model of traffic flow within the traffic engineering societies. While it is a powerful technique for modeling traffic flows, the Intelligent Driver Model lacks the potential of accommodating the notion of drivers’ heterogeneous behavior whenever they are on roads. Concerning the above mentioned, this paper takes the lane to recognize th...
متن کاملAnalyzing Stop Time Phase Leading to Congestion Based on Drivers’ Behavior Patterns
Traffic oscillation, stop and go traffic, is created by different reasons such as: sudden speed drop of leader vehicle. Stop and go traffic commonly is observed in congested freeways results in traffic oscillation. Many theories had been presented to define congestion traffic based on laws of physics such as: thermodynamics and fluid. But, these theories could not explain the complexity of driv...
متن کاملTraffic Scene Analysis using Hierarchical Sparse Topical Coding
Analyzing motion patterns in traffic videos can be exploited directly to generate high-level descriptions of the video contents. Such descriptions may further be employed in different traffic applications such as traffic phase detection and abnormal event detection. One of the most recent and successful unsupervised methods for complex traffic scene analysis is based on topic models. In this pa...
